Launch for today, June 26, is canceled.

Due to overnight rain at the field and more in the forecast we will have to cancel the launch for today. We won't be able to get into the field again until August 23rd. We really wanted to get to launch today but Mother Nature is not playing nice.

July 26 Launch Update:

As of Friday morning, the forecast for the launch tomorrow is somewhat grim. Scattered thunderstorms starting predawn and throughout the day. Some strong storms with high winds are possible in the mid-to-late afternoon. The wind is predicted to be 5-7 mph from the south, so if the launch is a go, we will set up on the south side (see map). We had some rain last night and this morning, but the field is still firm and usable. That might change if we get a lot of rain overnight. I will be up at 6 to check on the field condition and forecast. A go-no go decision will be made after the morning assessment. We will update this email and the blog site, https://jacksonmodelrocketryclub.blogspot.com/, with news and the launch decision.

Reminder, this is a low-power (G impulse and below) launch site. As you can see on the map, there is Pleasant Lake and homes to the east and the Consumers Energy Compressor Station to the northwest that restricts what we can fly on this field.

Next Sport & NRC Launch Date, July 26 @Horning 3

The Horning's plan is to make the next alfalfa cut on the week of the 21st. Barring any weather or equipment issues, that puts our next launch on Saturday, the 26th.

Hopefully, as we get close to the launch date, we will have an idea which direction the wind will be coming from, so we will know which end of the field the range will be set up on. It may come down to the morning of the launch, in which case we will post a reply to this email with a field update. We will either park on the field at the corner of Hieber and Ernst Rds, or in Buzz's backyard at 5170 Reno Rd.  Just a reminder, this field will be new to most of you and is restricted to G impulse and lower
