Launch This Saturday May 30th at Horning #3!

The crops just got cut so we will be able to use the Horning #3 field this Saturday, May 30th.  We will set up either at the north or south side of the field depending on the wind. If we use the north side please access to the field using the driveway at 5170 Reno Rd.

You can find the Horning #3 field here:

This is a low power only field so save the big stuff for another day.

Next Launch Update:

It is now the time of year for planting and the month of most uncertainty for when we can fly next.

As of now, it looks like the Horning 1 and 2 fields are off the availability list already due to planting and the type of crops going into those fields. Horning 3, the new field, is all alfalfa, and we can fly on it once it is cut. It's growing well right now, but these cold temps are going to slow it down. Typically, they make the first cut during the last two weeks of May, and then we have a 10-day window to hold a launch before we have to wait 28 days for the next cut. We likely won't get a long advanced notice before the first cut, but after that we can plan on subsequent launches to be every 28 days.

We'll stay in touch with the Hornings and post any updates.

Mid Winter Update:

Hi folks, hope everyone is enjoying the winter!

Just a couple of things. We are going to try for a maintenance day on March 28th. We will be working on the launch pads and other equipment. We will need as many people to come out as possible to get stuff ready for the flying season. Lunch will be served!

Our first launch of 2026 is set for April 11th at one of the Horning fields yet to be determined. Weather permitting of course.

We will probably have to have more launches at the smaller Horning #3 field this year due to the crop rotation. Lots of corn this year.

Altitude contest goal this year is 518 feet. Lower this year because of the Horning #3 field limitations.

This year if we get weathered out on our regular Saturday launch we will try to do a Sunday make up day when we can.

The "Crapshoot" joint launch at Muskegon will be April 25-26.

And don't forget LDRS in Pence, Indiana will be April 16-19.

April sounds busy in the best way for rocket folks!
